January-May 2026
Lots of work was accomplished at our Winter Work Week in January!JD’s parents and my mom and Kris came out to do their own work week as well!Kristina turning in her application to join us this fall!Yard renovations! First step towards irrigation, grass, and a fence!Was able to go with my mom to Reno to help design my grandparents’ headstone and visit family.Hosted the Superbowl again in February! Moved lots of things around to fit everyone lol.Proposed addition to our house this upcoming spring!We don’t get a lot of snow here at camp… but I’ll take what I can get!Tahoe in February, meanwhile, had plenty!Have to work if you want to park your vehicle in Tahoe in the winter.Had a wonderful time celebrating our half-year anniversary/Valentine’s Day/my birthday.Oops.The arrival of a generous donation of a dump truck and lots of hay!JD did a lot of speaking this spring for our C.O.R.E. camps.Folsom Zoo!Had lots of visits to the doctor this year trying to figure out shoulder issues.Many of these visits were MRI’s. Listened to lots of classical music and almost fell asleep!My wrist surgery that I had in March to deal with pain I’ve had for a few years was successful and damaged ligaments were removed.JD began his multi-year project to improve our large arena. He got a lot accomplished this spring!One aspect of my job was giving out gifts to camp’s monthly donators – our Grubstakers.Happy Easter! We were able to spend it with JD’s family.We were both able to travel with my mom to my great Aunt’s birthday in April. Wrapping up our last camp of the spring!Theo, our barn cat, lived with us for a few days after… an important surgery.He did not like himself.Freshly weed-wacked yard ready for the summer season!Staff dinner celebrating the end of a spring full of camps and service.Snuck to a nearby lake during our May break. September-December 2025
One of the many projects we got done this fall was our kitchen floors!Marysville Rodeo!One of the highlights of the fall was having three guys in our Life Institute program. Have to keep them fed!Had quite a few MRI’s visits as we looked for answers for my shoulder pain. Listened to lots of classical music and almost fell asleep!Picking up our new kayak from Tahoe! We’re excited to use this in the warmer months.September means staff photos.In October, one of the highlights of camp is our Women’s Retreats (and their crafts!)Happy Halloween!We also explored Apple Hills, a multi-farm event that has things around the year (but the best time is in fall).Fall church event nerf shootout in front of the congregation? It’s more likely than you think.JD got lots of work done this fall around the horse area thanks to one of the Life Institute guys (and this trencher).Staff planning meetings happen in November, preparing us for our next year of service.We also had our largest camp of the year – Youth Rally.Family photo over Thanksgiving.We were generously donated four horses to the Horsemanship program, bringing our number up to 14!Visited a few local Christmas events in December!Carolers in the airport.Were able to visit both sides of the family over Christmas!See you next year!
June-August 2025
At the beginning of the summer, we took the top and doors off the Jeep!Horsemanship Team 2025Lots of first aid kits!Snuck away briefly to visit family camping over Father’s Day weekend.When a camper asks politely to put shaving cream on your face during Water Wednesday.Skit Night means skit snacks!JD used our newest horse, Shelby, for Round Pen Chapel.I received my degree in my mail!4th of July!Brought our Coleman stove to beach for the Summer Staff Tahoe Trip.In between camps, JD also did dentist work with the horses.We also would sneak away on weekends to our local lake. JD caught this on the inner tube!Got myself in an accident and survived to tell the tale!We had so many testimonies shared on Friday night campfires.JD’s first two graduates of the Horsemanship program!At the end of summer, we compete in the Blackberry bake-off. I placed 1st and JD barely missed 3rd!We also took the staff to the local baseball game. Go High Wheelers!Grandma’s memorial and funeral service happened the beginning of August. We were so glad to be able to attend.We were able to see both of our parents at the end of summer. Had a wonderful time!JD was also able to meet my grandmother for the first time.The USS Midway!We were able to go celebrate our 1st Year Anniversary in Tahoe.We look forward to many more adventures!

This January, we started the transformation of camp’s old barn into a new operations hub for auto, Sowers, storage, and maintenance.We started off the year by accidentally undertaking another long hike underprepared. Reaching the bottom was a relief (and pretty!)We hosted the Super Bowl this year! Our tiny home felt very full!Don’t worry, JD had a good time. His team was just losing.In February, we headed to San Diego to volunteer at Camp Julian Oaks.In addition to Julian Oaks, we also went to the PWG shooting range, the third largest shooting range in America!JD got to be in skits at Julian Oaks, playing an self-intitled baker in a baking competition (no, he didn’t win).The San Diego Zoo Safari Park!Homemade donuts the morning we had our second Christmas in February with my family.Our Tahoe trip!If there’s water, JD will be in it!Celebrated my birthday!Sometimes you have to get creative to hang up lights !The first snow of 2025.Introduced JD to hot Krispy Kreme donuts. Safe to say, a life was changed.Had the opportunity to go to a Monster Truck rally in Grass Valley. Very loud, very fun!Easter!On top of all our adventures, JD has been hard at work improving the horse area. Here he’s making concrete pads for new water troughs.Here, JD has dug trenches to add electricity for lights to the horse area!Thank you to Mike for all the help!Camp has also been very busy this spring, with lots of kids camps!JD’s parents were able to visit us as well! We explored the nearby mines and sights while they were here.On our way to pick up a new horse for Horsemanship, we of course had to stop and say hello to our niece. Not sure she understands the Lion King reference yet.Wolf Mountain’s new horse, Shelby!Graduated with my AA in Psychology – Christian Counseling!Foodieland, America’s largest food festival, was in Sacramento! A fun stop before the craziness of summer.

In September, Jared and I traveled down to Ironwood to renew our deep-water lifeguard certifications.The Northern Lights were visible from our home in October!Youth Rally: Our largest camp of the year. This year was Highlands themed!Jared’s outfit for Youth Rally was significantly better than mine!Stockings awaiting our White Elephant gift exchange during our November staff planning meetings.Thanksgiving Break found us at the Dickens Fair!Added string lights to our home!Decorated for Christmas.Met our niece on Christmas break!
